Riot Platforms (NASDAQ:RIOT) has agreed to buy 66,560 more bitcoin (BTC-USD) miners from MicroBT Electronics Technology through its manufacturing subsidiaries.
The new purchase, which comes in addition to the previously announced purchase of 33,280 miners, represents a total of 18 exahashes per second (EH/s).
Under the new purchase order, the total consideration is $290.5M, equating to an average price for all miners of approximately $16 per terahash.
Delivery and deployment of the new miners is expected to begin in the second half of 2024. Deployment of the previously announced purchase order is scheduled for Q1 2024.
RIOT, meantime, gapped up some 10% in morning trading as bitcoin’s (BTC-USD) extended rally prompted a surge among a slew of crypto-linked stocks.
